"In Our Time" - Dear Jane by Judy Doenias and Diane Rode Schneck

Fall, 2009, marked 10 years of Dear Jane classes at The City Quilter. This was commemorated by a special exhibit of ten Dear Jane quilts as part of a 60 quilt exhibition at the Williams Club in New York City, organized by The City Quilter.

Several hundred students have been in The City Quilter's Dear Jane classroom of Judy Doenias and Diane Rode Schneck over those ten years. Consequently, a rather substantial DJ community has developed in New York as a result of their commitment.

“Janiacs”-- the affectionate term coined by Diane and readily embraced by DJ students past, present and future!--study and model their quilts on the 225 (unique) block design of Jane Stickle‘s 1863 quilt. The “Dear Jane” moniker refers to the letter of appreciation written by quilter Brenda Papadakis to Jane Stickle. Brenda deconstructed this amazing 19th century accomplishment and consequently set in motion the making of hundreds of “Dear Jane” quilts.

For your viewing pleasure we present "In Our Time," (aka "Technicolor Jane"), co-created by quilters, and City Quilter teachers and staffers, Judy Doenias and Diane Rode Schneck.
